Hi, I am Lucia and I am a climate scientist currently based at UC Berkeley.
I am broadly interested in modelling the impact of extreme events on the coupled land surface - atmosphere system, especially the impact of wildfire and other ecosystem disturbances on vegetation, and the impact of climate change on ecosystem regeneration.
My research employs complex Global Dynamic Vegetation Models as well as low- dimensional stochastic dynamical systems, where I am particularly interested in heavy-tailed data and model uncertainty across scales.
My work aims to inform strategies for climate adaptation and ecological resilience, and I work closely with land managers and ecologist in U.S. National Parks across the Western US.
